Heinrich Albert Guitar Competition

In 2013 the forth round of the the Heinrich Albert Guitar Competition takes place. On November 23rd and 24th the Gauting-Stockdorf Music School invites young guitar players to compete with each other. The competition is open to all children and young people between 10 and 20 years.

This year the competition opened for the first time for international participants and is subtitled "International Competition for Guitar Music of the German-speaking World." In each category has to be played an original work from Heinrich Albert as obligatory piece and free choice pieces from different eras, originating exclusively from the German-speaking world.

Patron of the competition is the German Music Councils President Prof. Martin Maria Krüger, Hochschule für Musik und Theater München.

In three age categories (10-13 years / 14-16 years / 17-20 years) can each be awarded three prizes worth a total of about 6000 Euros. A jury consisting of renowned experts will assess each individual performance and subsequently decide about the awarding of prizes. The appraisal - of course corresponding to the age - accounts for the criteria of technical skill, sense of style, and, and that's decisive, to the artistic expression of the candidates.
